| A workforce is not so much hard to find in Mexico today, as it is hard to keep. While you can find available buildings and sites throughout the country, nowadays companies must search out complete environments where the population's housing, infrastructure, health, safety and education needs have been addressed resulting in a win-win for the manufacturer and employee alike in a long term commitment... Thus, the master planned community has evolved as the ultimate solution. (Read more about this concept in this story published in the November 2, 2003, Business Section of Gannet's EL PASO TIMES.) |

| The problem.
It used to be that you could put a manufacturing site in a population center in Mexico and you'd attract all the workers that you needed. Then more people came, and more plants, and more people. Plants starting fighting for workers, and the infrastructure became stretched. Safety and quality of life issues arose. Today's stable long-term "working envirnoment" in Mexico is not just a matter of plopping a manufacturing facility down somewhere and putting out a help wanted sign. The solution. Today whole master-planned communities are being created to address the wholistic needs of both the employer and employee. It's like painting on a blank canvas where infrastructure if first addressed (water/water treatment, electricity ), as well has affordable housing, transportation, health services, educational facilities, public spaces, shopping and entertainment as well as industrial sites often within walking distance within a planned community that feels secure and safe. THIS TYPE OF COMMUNITY PLANNING (to accomodate both quality of life, and production) is being developed throughout Mexico. PUNTA DEL ESTE, a master planned urban community. Click here. |
